Shooting destination weddings in the Bahamas does mean that more often than not we do shoot at the same venues repeatedly, and some places are a lot more popular than others. I’ve photographed a few weddings at the beautiful Ocean’s Edge recently and as you can see, while the backgrounds may be the same, the energy of the images is completely different. The key to a successful shoot is to get to know the unique personalities of the bride and groom, as well as their family and friends.

Not only are their personalities different but so is the lighting, the decor and the Bahamas sunset. As you can see from the images at the end of this post, we lucked out with a sunset so stunning that it looks like a fake backdrop – but I can assure you it was all real!

I love my southern brides and their families – whether from Texas, the Carolinas or Alabama (as were Cailey and Cassidy) they are always so full of southern charm and hospitality, good humour and warmth. Thanks to my groomsman for jumping in as my photographer’s assistant – you look great holding that umbrella!

Best wishes to you Cailey and Cassidy – I look forward to photographing your vow renewals!

And to the bridesmaids – BLINK!!… you girls rocked it!

This next image is one of many that I had a difficult time shooting simply because I was practically on the floor laughing – one of the groomsmen was really struggling with how to fold his pocket square and watching him with his black tape trying to stick it together was a new one for me – definitely a video moment!

My newest assistant doing a fantastic job!

Almost the entire “formal” session with the bridal party was full of hysterical laughter – the videographer and I really had a hard time keeping our cameras from shaking – this crew was FUNNY and high spirited! Clearly this “formal” session was nothing near formal… Have I said yet how much I love what I do for a living?
