Wedding Decor and Event Planning: Boy Meets Girl

Wedding location: Tippy’s

Most people who know me know that Eleuthera is hands down my favourite place in the Bahamas. It’s hard to explain the magic of this island to someone who has never been there. On the surface it seems quiet and very laid back – to the point that many people wonder what you would ever do there to keep busy. But the more you explore the more you find hidden gems and meet great people who are on amazing and interesting journeys. There is an energy (a little like the fountain of youth) such that after even just 1 day on the island you feel like you’ve been on vacation for a week.

So, when I have a bride who contacts me about an Eleuthera wedding I get excited every time. And when Jackie reached out to me to shoot her Eleuthera wedding at Tippy’s I was even more excited as this is one of my favourite restaurants in the Bahamas. A gorgeous setting, delicious food and staff that feel like family. Between this location and Mish of Boy Meets Girl wedding planning, I knew this would be a great day.

We had a rough week of weather prior to the wedding but Jackie and Marcus are folk who are so easy going – no stress, no worries, it is what it is. Poor Mish was stressed that afternoon worrying about whether it would rain or not and what to do with the alter, while I bumped into a very relaxed bride enjoying a cocktail with friends at the ever gorgous Sky Beach Club.

The clouds continued to roll in and the very eery sky dictated that all beach decor be moved to the restaurant and the ceremony be held under shelter. No worries – it was intimate and beachy at the same time.

This wedding had everything – a beautiful daughter walking her mother down the aisle, laughter, tears, lots of cocktails, dramatic skies, torrential rain, a live band, a singing guest, a DJ cousin to spin, wild and crazy dancing (I never did find out what the blow torch was for!). The party started before the meal began and I don’t think there was one guest who didn’t dance, laugh and boogie down with the best of them.

I am always honoured to be asked to help create the memories that will last a life time and when I meet people who are as love and laughter filled as Jackie, Marcus and their friends and family, I can’t help but say goodbye with both a full and a heavy heart.
