Venice – A city of grandeur built on 100 islands in a marshy lagoon. No cars or roads, just canals and boats. Marble palaces rising from the Grand Canal. The Rialto and the Bridge of Sighs. Trattorias and Osterias. Enotecas with regional wines. Candied flowers – lavender, mint. Aperol Spritz at sunset. There is no city such as Venice and in spite of the August heat and summer crowds when I was there, I just could not stop walking, and seeing, and feeling, and shooting (photos). The colours, the textures, the energy, the passion.
