I am mad for cold, crisp autumn days – I get to enjoy jeans and boots, cozy jackets and scarves, mulled wine and rosy cheeks, fireplaces and running through fallen leaves. The cool weather invigorates me for long country walks and the beautiful colours of fall are breathtaking at every turn. I count myself so incredibly fortunate to be able to call the Surrey countryside my second home and to have such beauty readily available to me. The Winkworth Arboretum is a short drive from where I stay and I love walking the many trails to see how nature changes with the seasons. England may not have as many brilliant fall reds as the New England area of the United States, but it sure is beautiful regardless and absolutely worth spending the time to explore.

“Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting and autumn a mosaic of them all.” Stanley Horowitz
