The Lyford Cay Club is located in the exclusive gated community of Lyford Cay, on Nassau in The Bahamas. The Club was built in the 1950’s by E P Taylor and is a low-key, understated private club located on a beautiful beach and providing an old world island setting perfect for weddings. I love photographing here – the staff are superb and super fun too watch, especially if there’s island music or a junkanoo band moving through. Bahamians just can’t help but dance and get their groove on. When you choose a setting such as Lyford Cay, and mix in the amazing Araxie from Wildflower Events Bahamas, well, you have an outstanding day to remember for a lifetime.
Tracey and David had their intimate wedding at St. Christopher’s Church, located in Lyford Cay itself. Father Cartwright is a gem – you just want to give him a big hug – and the church choir – well, if only there was video. As the guests entered the church they could not help but move their feet to the upbeat gospel music. On this wedding day we did get rained out but with such a calm and cool bridal party we simply moved the formal pics into the main club and had a great time. Following the reception and the traditional first dances (to non-traditional music!) Tracey and David incorporated some of the best elements of Bahamian culture – a super vibrant junkanoo band with their goatskin drums, cowbells and horns, and then a fire/limbo show with our infamous (he truly is!) Action Jackson. Action has performed for many of the world’s most “famous” people and has been around for as long as any of us can remember. Have you ever seen someone limbo under 6 inches with the stick on fire? Probably not….
