Lyford Cay weddings are always a blast – a mixture of the new, wild and crazy amidst a setting that is exclusive and full of old world charm. I met Nick and Heather early in 2016 and the weekend we met they asked me to take their engagement photos – it was quite last minute but we had a great time and they both looked amazing in spite of the Bahamas heat and sunshine. Here’s a link to those pics if you’d like to take a peak: Lyford Cay Engagement Photos
I couldn’t wait for December to come around so that we could photograph the big day. I returned home from a very long summer in Europe and was excited to have this be my first wedding of our season…..With guests flying in from New England and beyond I knew this would be another memorable occasion, and I was pumped. It’s so much fun to spend time with families who have an appreciation for “things Bahamian” such as our steel drum / calypso music and of course our ever-energetic Junkanoo groups which inevitably lead to packed dance floors – the perfect way to transition from a civilized meal to all out fun and crazy dance moves.
In spite of a small hiccup from a passing shower as were about to begin our “formal” bride and groom portraits, everything went swimmingly. Thanks to my super patient and talented 2nd photographer Susan Davis for her beautiful images, and a nod to Araxi at Wildflowers for beautiful table settings and a gorgeous arbor. Cocktails on the lawn, a blazing Christmas tree in the foyer, a few photos on the golf course, goatskin drums and cowbells – a wedding to remember!
