I’ve been super fortunate over my many years capturing weddings in The Bahamas that very few have ever been rained out. I really could count on one hand over the last 14 years how many weddings have truly been affected by stormy weather – and even then the bride, groom and family/friends always kept their spirits up and made the best of it. Oftentimes those few weddings were the most energetic of all! And this was the case for this summer wedding. We had an unusually crazy weather week and when most of your wedding venues and events are outdoors, well, you can imagine the concern for all. Fortunately L+N had planned an indoor church service followed by the reception indoors at the Lyford Cay Little Club and so in spite of a little dampness, the only adjustment we had to make was on where we would take the more formal photos of the day.
After a boisterous bridal prep session at one of the cottages of the Lyford Cay Club (see how great the light was? even on a cloudy Bahamas day the sun still keeps things bright for us!), we headed over to the quaint and cozy St Christopher’s church where we were entertained by their gospel choir while we awaited the gathering of the guests. The timeline all went smoothly and soon we were back at the clubhouse, cocktailing, mingling, snapping away and after the usual top notch fare served by the awesome Lyford Cay staff, a traditional Junkanoo group rushed us into a wild night of dancing.
One of the reasons I love these wedding photos so much is that it shows that even a not so great weather day in the Bahamas can still deliver great light, great backdrops and when a bride and groom are focused on their vows and the true reason for this special day, nothing can stop the energy and warmth that comes from being with those closest to you.
