I will always make time in my schedule for Eleuthera weddings. It’s one of my favourite places in the Bahamas and I really connect with the families who choose the island for their special day. Lisa and I had emailed quite a lot but I didn’t meet them both until the big day and I immediately knew that this was going to be a day that would make me cry. There was so much love between the two of them and wow – the way Chris looks at his bride. This is a cool guy. The decor was clean and simple – local flowers provided the colour pop in both the palm frond arbor and the bride’s bouquet. Everyone was so low key that when I popped by after my plane landed I found it hard to imagine there was to be a wedding in a matter of hours. Everyone was lounging around the pool, working on their tans, sipping cocktails – no stress, no drama. And the weather was gorgeous so a perfect afternoon all ’round. After the ceremony it was time for cocktails and dinner (which I was invited to join) and wow, was that food amazing. Stone crab claws, fish, shrimp, and yummy conch salad (a Bahamian specialty). So much choice, so little ‘storage’ room..
A lot of beach wedding photography in the Bahamas highlights the beautiful stretches of wide, white sand beaches that we have as well they should since that is why our brides choose the islands for their big day. While we certainly had that option for our photos, it just seemed a shame to not work with the drama of the seaweed that mirrored the cloud-filled sky. The light was beautiful, the bride and groom were gorgeous – again, I am honoured to have been a part of this special day for Lisa and Chris. I look forward to the anniversary photo session 🙂
